Alan is a Business Director for SYSTRA, an international transportation consultancy that has planned, designed and engineered some of the world’s most complex transport infrastructure projects. He manages the Midlands region for the business and has worked in Birmingham for the past 25 years.
With over 20 years experience he provides advice across a range of disciplines within the transport planning sector comprising development planning and management, street and interchange design and transport modelling. He directs multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, planners, modellers and designers and his clients include a range of public bodies both local and national as well as private sector developers.
His academic background comprises transport, economics, sports development and physical activity and urban design. He has a particular interest in the interface between transport planning and urban design, demonstrated by his position as an Expert Panel Member at MADE, the regional architecture centre for the West Midlands. He has provided transport modelling training to transport planners and modellers throughout the UK and Europe.
