The 2017 Colmore Food Festival was launched last night at ZEN Metro by the team from Colmore Business District (BID). Members of the press, bloggers and long time Festival supporters gathered to hear about plans for the ever expanding Festival.

Colmore BID Board Director and Partner at Trowers and Hamlins Amardeep Gill opened the night and thanked the venues and District for its continuing support. Since 2015 Amardeep has been the Board lead on the Festival working alongside the BID team to deliver the fantastic two day event.

Projects Maker for the BID Lucy Elvin informed guests of how the Festival had grown in attendance from a mere 3,000 when in started in 2011 to more than 30,000 in 2015 and 2016. Plans for this year include an even greater focus on local music for the entertainment (including some acts from the Academy of Music and Sound,) a new series of exciting fringe events in the months leading up to the Festival and, of course, plenty of new venues joining the fun in Victoria Square.

Celebrity chef Glynn Purnell, who will be returning to the Festival in 2017, talked about the camaraderie between venues and the positive effect the Festival has on the District and city. Glynn was part of the first wave of District venues to participate in the Festival when the BID set it up in 2011 and remarked how impressive its growth had been.

The Festival will be held in Victoria Square from 11.00 – 19.00 on both Friday 30 June and Saturday 1 July. For more information please visit
