Clearwater invests for the future with new Birmingham base

14 December 2025

Clearwater, the leading international corporate finance advisory firm, has signalled its commitment to the Midlands with a significant investment in a new workspace in Colmore Business District.

The firm, which was founded in the city in 2003, has taken space at 10 Livery Street, just off Colmore Row and in the heart of Birmingham’s thriving professional services community. Clearwater was previously based at 9 Colmore Row.

The new office, which has over 25% more space, provides a modern working environment, including collaborative spaces and areas for focused work. Meanwhile, the new dedicated client suite provides high-quality space for meetings. The office fitout was led by Overbury.

Forty people are based permanently at 10 Livery Street, with space to expand the team. Clearwater has enjoyed significant growth in recent years and has stated its ambition to grow UK revenues from £50 million currently to reach £75 million by 2030. The Midlands remains a key focus for the business.

Among Birmingham colleagues are senior deal advisers in key sector teams including Business Services, Industrials, Healthcare and Technology. The office also serves as a hub for Clearwater’s Modelling and Data Analytics team.

Birmingham will be used to host company meetings attended by colleagues from Clearwater’s other UK offices, in London, Manchester and Leeds.

Clearwater, which has 140 colleagues across its four UK offices, has enjoyed a buoyant 2025. In October it announced it had advised on 28 transactions in the first half of its financial year (April-September).

Sarah Taylor, partner and head of the Midlands at Clearwater, said: “This move is a real statement of intent. The Midlands is our founding region, and it remains a key part of our UK coverage so we’re keen that we have a modern, inspiring workspace in the centre of Birmingham to bring our people and clients together.

“The office has been designed to give our colleagues spaces to collaborate while also providing areas where people can focus as well as meet clients and other partners. It demonstrates our commitment to Birmingham and the wider Midlands region and gives us the base we need to build on our recent run of growth.”

Mark Taylor, UK CEO of Clearwater, added: “Our Birmingham office houses the largest M&A advisory practice in the Midlands with a team that possesses deep sector and regional expertise, providing the best service and coverage to our clients.

“Coming on the back of one of the most successful years in our history, we’re in a great position to continue to strengthen our role supporting ambitious businesses and funds across the UK, as well as providing international coverage via our global reach. I’m really looking forward to hosting clients and colleagues in this outstanding new workspace in the years ahead.”

Clearwater’s Midlands team has acted on a range of significant transactions over the past year. This includes advising the management team at Harper James, a Birmingham-headquartered full-service commercial law firm, on securing investment from LDC. Clearwater also supported the shareholders of Obsequio Group – a Leicester-based provider of fire safety, water hygiene, security, asbestos, energy, and environmental compliance services – as it received investment from Warren Equity Partners.

So far in 2025 Clearwater has secured 12 individual and team industry awards, including accolades in Insider’s Dealmakers, TheBusinessDesk’s Rainmakers and Real Deals awards.
