Supporting a Cleaner Colmore: Deep Cleaning in the Business District
As part of our commitment to a cleaner public realm for everyone who works, visits, or lives in Colmore Business District, we are continuing to commission specialist cleaning contractor Ramora to carry out targeted deep cleaning on key pedestrian routes across the area.
Focusing on some of the busiest and most visible streets—including Colmore Row, Temple Row, Church Street, and Newhall Street—this work forms part of our long-term approach to supporting public spaces and enhancing the environment for businesses and the public alike.
Specialist Steam Cleaning With Minimal Environmental Impact
Using high-pressure steam technology, Ramora tackled grime, chewing gum and built-up dirt that had accumulated over time, helping to restore the appearance of the paving stones without the use of any chemicals. The process is eco-friendly, non-toxic, and COSHH-compliant, making it safe for both the public and the environment.
By using the correct combination of temperature and pressure, the team were able to lift heavy surface dirt, revealing the original stone colour beneath.
Carried Out With Care and Efficiency
With thousands of people passing through the district every day, this work was carefully planned to minimise disruption to businesses and the public. Cleaning was carried out in shifts, covering up to 500 square metres at a time, and all nearby occupiers were informed in advance. Where necessary, we also offered window cleaning to support affected retailers.
We understand how important the public realm is to the daily experience of the city. While this work doesn’t replace the essential services of city-wide cleaning teams, it does provide an additional layer of care during a time when pressures on the wider system are particularly high.
