Birmingham, B3 2BJ United Kingdom
Colmore BID is hosting an open event in Birmingham city centre on Thursday, June 20 to mark Clean Air Day 2019.
Clean Air Day is a UK wide national campaign to raise awareness of air pollution and its harmful effects, and consists of a series of events taking place up and down the country on the steps we all can take to tackle poor air quality and improve our health.
Colmore BID is joining forces with Birmingham City Council, Brompton Bikes, Midland Metro Alliance, National Express West Midlands, Public Health England and West Midlands Railway for its Clean Air Day event, with stalls set up from 11am to 3pm in the public square at St Philip’s Cathedral.
Councillor Waseem Zaffar, Cabinet Member for Transport & Environment is planning to drop in on the day and representatives from each organisation will also be on hand to provide face-to-face information on the issues surrounding poor air quality, particularly at a local level – Birmingham is one of the worst hit areas outside London for air pollution – and to dispense advice on how small changes in behaviour at home, on the move and in the office can help tackle the problem.
As one of Birmingham’s designated Green Travel Districts and with some 35,000 people working in the District, Colmore has a big part to play in the city’s sustainability agenda so come along to Colmore BID’s Clean Air Day event on Thursday, June 20 to find out more about what’s being done and how you can help.
