Too Cute! Sweet is about to get Sinister will see Maclean examine the world of cuteness by curating works by artists including Gillian Wearing, Helen Chadwick and John Isaacs.
She will look at the overwhelming presence of cuteness in contemporary society and how objects and images can be simultaneously sweet and sinister.
Maclean has created a new original film for the exhibition which introduces the themes. In it she plays a Care Bear-like creature called Dr Cute. Attached are two stills from this film.
