Join us at the Colmore Club on Wednesday 30 January for our Wellbeing series launch 2019!
You will be able to hear more about our workshops for the 2019 series and hear from some of the workshop leaders themselves. We have also added an extra element into this years launch with a swishing event! So whether you are after a new suit or a new look come along and see what you can find! We will also have advisors on hand who will be able to offer you advice on how to wear pieces you may be struggling to wear!
The event includes an opportunity to revitalise your wardrobe for free by participating in a ‘swish’, where clothes and accessories you’ve fallen out of love with are exchanged with those dropped off by fellow ‘swishers’. It’s both a cost effective, and environmentally friendly, way to try a new look. Vintage and pre-loved style champion Samantha Lyster (@TheInspiringWild) will be on-hand to guide guests through the process and offer advice, alongside Zoe Barry, a former fashion buyer and founder of the Birmingham-based sustainable t-shirt brand Punks and Chancers (@punksandchancers).
While the clothes are being prepared for the swish, the event also offers participants a chance to chat to career coach Asha Ghosh (@thehonestcoach) and fitness trainer Lee Wilson on how to kick-start a new attitude towards work and fitness. We shall also have Marlon (@marlonpatrice) who leads our running groups (Couch to 5km will be starting the following day). Other wellbeing promoters will be on hand to talk on the night about the work they do and give you advice on a wide variety of subjects!
Quick guide to swishing:
Participants are advised to bring up to a maximum of 10 good quality items to the drop off (no rips, broken bits, faded colours or bobbling) where they will be exchanged for tokens that the participant can ‘spend’ during the swish.
One token: Supermarket and high street clothes for example from Asda – George, Tesco – Florence and Fred, Sainsbury’s – TU, Miss Selfridge, Peacocks or New Look
Two tokens: Vintage or higher quality high street Topshop, Monsoon, Marks and Spencer, All Saints, Urban Outfitters, Zara or Mango
Three tokens: Designer and amazing vintage pieces.
Tickets cost £6 and can be redeemed against a drink.
