International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month: Celebrating Women’s Achievements and Paving the Way for Future Generations
International Women’s Day (IWD) on 8 March and Women’s History Month, celebrated throughout March, are important milestones in the global movement to honour the contributions of women across all sectors of society. These cultural events offer a moment to reflect on the progress made toward gender equality, while also acknowledging the work still to be done. They are an opportunity to celebrate the women who have shaped our world, recognise the barriers that continue to exist, and commit to a future of greater equality.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is marked annually on 8 March, a day to honour the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women worldwide. It is also a call to action for accelerating gender parity and tackling the ongoing challenges women face in many parts of the world. Each year, IWD is centred around a specific theme, drawing attention to key areas of change, progress, and action. The event unites people from diverse backgrounds and industries, fostering global solidarity for gender equality.
Women’s History Month, observed throughout the month of March, provides a broader platform to highlight the achievements and historical contributions of women. It’s an opportunity to celebrate trailblazing women who have made a significant impact on society, from those who led social movements to those who broke barriers in science, politics, and the arts.
At Colmore Business District (BID), we are excited to be part of these global celebrations and are committed to showcasing and supporting women’s achievements and empowerment. As part of our activities for International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, we are hosting two dynamic events that aim to inspire, empower, and create lasting impact for women in business and leadership roles.
