Postcards are picture perfect fundraiser for LoveBrum

13 May 2020

A series of stunning watercolours depicting famous Birmingham landmarks is to be sold as a set of postcards in aid of LoveBrum’s current #OneBrum campaign.

Created by Birmingham artist and businessman Stacey Barnfield, sales of the postcards will help LoveBrum fund city-based charities directly supporting those most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The watercolours depict five famous Brummie landmarks – Town Hall Birmingham, Sarehole Mill, the Custard Factory, Birmingham Cathedral and Snobs nightclub.

Former editor of The Birmingham Post and Director of PR and Publishing at Edwin Ellis Creative Media, Stacey Barnfield commented: “I’ve always enjoyed drawing Birmingham’s buildings, even more so during lockdown; these are just some of the places I visit often for work or with family and I miss them enormously.

“As a born and bred Brummie, to see my sketches helping the brilliant LoveBrum charity raise much-needed funds for local causes makes me extremely proud.”

Paul Mitchell, executive director at LoveBrum, commented: “Our OneBrum campaign has already raised over £13,000 to help those in the city most affected by COVID-19. The postcards will not only help boost funds, but are a fantastic reminder of places we can look forward to visiting when restrictions are lifted – and they’re a great way of keeping in touch with loved ones in lockdown.

“We’re extremely grateful to Stacey, and our corporate members Clarke Print who have generously donated the printing of the first 500 postcards (100 sets).”

The postcards cost £5 per set (including delivery) and can be bought through the LoveBrum website at: https://lovebrum.org.uk/shop/

Funding has already been sent to the four causes supported by OneBrum; Beyond The Horizon, which helps children, young people and families who have been affected by loss, bereavement, divorce or separation; the As-Suffa Trust, which is sending up to 100 food parcels a day to the vulnerable, elderly and NHS staff; Inspiration Support, who are going out delivering care packages to those most vulnerable still sleeping on the streets; and Ladywood Helpers, a group of charity organisations, community projects, anti-poverty groups, foodbanks, churches and primary schools, which is providing advice, support and food parcels to those most affected by the pandemic.

OneBrum has a simple premise; everyone in Birmingham is being asked to do just two things; donate £1 to support the work happening right now in Birmingham to support local communities, and do one thing locally to help – whether that’s phoning someone in isolation or completing a shopping drop to a vulnerable person.

You can also donate £1 via JustGiving at www.justgiving.com/campaign/onebrum, or text ONEBRUM to 70085 to donate £1.
