Consultation on HS2
Colmore BID responded to the Government’s hybrid Bill for Phase One of HS2 between London and the West Midlands, which will secure the powers to construct and maintain the first phase of this huge infrastructure project.
Interested parties were given the opportunity to ‘petition’ the Bill to amend it. One of the ways it could be amended would be to include greater place-making and connectivity around the proposed terminus at Eastside.
The proposal in the bill was a little stark. The petitioning process was the last real chance to fundamentally influence the HS2 project and its interface with the City Centre.
The response was made by Colmore BID on behalf of all Business Improvement Districts in Birmingham city center and Birmingham Professional Services.
After meeting with representatives from HS2 Ltd and other petitioners we received sufficient assurances they had received addressed our concerns, and so, we were able to withdraw our petition.
