Gods and Monsters: A Mythological Walking Tour of Birmingham

This Halloween, discover the hidden myths of Birmingham’s city centre with Gods and Monsters — a free walking tour that brings the city’s statues, streets, and skyline to life. Taking place on Wednesday 29 October at 17:15, the 90-minute circular walk (approx. 1.5 miles) begins outside the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and reveals the divine and the monstrous figures hiding in plain sight across the city.

Led by acclaimed guide and architectural photographer Kevin Thomas, recently recognised by The Times as one of the top five things to do in Birmingham, the tour weaves wit, history, and storytelling into an atmospheric journey. From Hebe, goddess of youth, at Steelhouse Lane to Apollo on Colmore Row, you’ll encounter terracotta griffins, sea gods, dragons, and more as the myths of the ancient world collide with the modern city.

The evening concludes with a complimentary drink at The Old Joint Stock, courtesy of Colmore BID – the perfect setting to warm up and reflect on the legends uncovered. Places are free for Colmore BID businesses, but limited, so early booking via Eventbrite is recommended.
