Major employers to focus on empowering workforces at event in Birmingham

13 January 2019

Some of the region’s major employers are set to discuss how they empower their workforces at an event in Birmingham.

Senior management figures will be sharing their best practice on empowering large numbers of colleagues with the Progressive Employers Group (PEG) which is based in the city.

The group was established by people management and recruitment specialists Angela Mortimer Group, sponsored by Katie Bard, Big Cat Agency and Innovation Birmingham.

The workshop style event will feature leaders from HCB Solicitors, Resorts World, Angela Mortimer Group and audit, tax and consulting firm RSM who will discuss empowerment models which operate within the firms and how it has increased productivity in their businesses.

All sizes of employers are being urged to attend and take part in the discussion, which will be held at iCentrum at the Innovation Birmingham Campus on January 23.

It is the sixth event from the Progressive Employers Group, set up for business leaders in Birmingham to promote innovative ways to strengthen the region’s employment market.

This follows the live debate in September 2018 where the focus was on why graduates leave Birmingham to work in London and how Midlands employers can make a difference.

John Mortimer, CEO of Angela Mortimer Group, said: “The Progressive Employers Group has become an important platform for business leaders to discuss key issues and develop new ways to strengthen the employment market in the West Midlands.

“The latest event will focus on how larger companies can and do empower their workforce and how this impacts productivity.

“We have some exciting representatives from a number of high-profile companies who will be discussing the models used within their firms and the obstacles they must overcome.

“The discussion will also give companies the opportunity to share their experiences with other professionals.”

Businesses interested in attending the event, which runs from 5pm to 7pm, are asked to sign up at https://nvite.com/PEGVI/7rx78p
