BID bolsters security presence across the Colmore Business District
12 July 2019
Colmore BID is upping security across Birmingham’s commercial quarter from next week.
Starting on Monday, July 15, members of the BID’s five-strong security team will be patrolling Colmore Business District 12 hours a day, 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday. The move forms part of the BID’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all those who work within, visit or simply travel through the District.
The BID’s security officers play a key role assisting the police and other agencies in tackling crime and anti-social behaviour across the District. But they also work with charities and other support services to provide help and assistance to homeless and other vulnerable people – and the extension of the security team’s hours follows on from a new BID initiative to provide additional support to these groups through evening volunteer walkabouts.
Jonathan Bryce, Colmore BID Operations Manager, said:
“We know that our security officers provide a reassuring presence for people across Colmore Business District and that the work they do to help keep the area safe while supporting those in need of special care and support is greatly appreciated by the police, local authorities, charities and other organisations that we work in partnership with.
“Enhancing security services for everyone across the District was a key pledge for our third term so we’re pleased to be delivering on this promise.”
