Aon employs approximately 400 people in Birmingham, part of a 50,000-stong worldwide team, and has agreed a 10-year lease for the entire 22,709 sq ft 12th floor of The Colmore Building which was built on the site of the former Birmingham Post and Mail printworks.

The move to The Colmore Building has been strongly influenced by Aon’s commitment to smart working and the new surroundings will further enhance the team’s ability to collaborate and innovate in order to deliver the best solutions for its clients.

Speaking at the official launch, Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street, commented:

“The Colmore Building – at the heart of Birmingham’s business district – boasts excellent amenities and a stellar list of leading firms in professional services.

“It’s great to see Aon making this long-term commitment to this city – placing a tremendous vote of confidence in Birmingham via this relocation decision.

“I’ve enjoyed having the chance to meet the team – particularly the graduates and apprentices. Birmingham and the wider West Midlands is home to an outstanding professional services talent pool and I’m so pleased to see Aon investing in young people – generating opportunity here in the months and years ahead.”

Aon’s Birmingham employees will benefit from the building’s wide range of facilities that include a ground floor coffee shop, a private doctor’s office, a fully equipped gym, yoga suite and beauty treatment rooms, dry cleaners, bike stores and changing facilities, and electric chargers in its 115-space car park.  The building also boasts a BREEAM Excellent rating for its construction and operation, complimenting Aon’s own sustainability criteria.

Chris Barley, Head of Office for Commercial Risk at Aon in Birmingham, comments:

“Sustainability sat alongside location and wellbeing as the key priorities when we were choosing a new base for our Birmingham team.

“We were mindful of not only meeting the needs of our current team, but of future-proofing our working environment to continue attracting the very best talent to support our growth here in Birmingham.”

Adrian Johnson, Head of Office for Wealth Solutions at Aon in Birmingham, added:
