Birmingham Creates: The Open

16 April 2024

Looking to exhibit your work in Birmingham city centre this year? Well, the Birmingham Creates: The Open call could be perfectly suited for you!

Colmore Business District in partnership with Central Business District are holding their inaugural open call competition, searching for the most exciting, undiscovered artwork of 2024 from emerging artists across the Birmingham area. It’s totally free to enter and if selected you could have your work included in our outdoor print exhibition in Birmingham.

Not only that, but the first prize winner will win £2000 cash plus a portfolio review.

What

The Birmingham Creates Open Call is a competition for all printable forms of artwork. It aims to give a platform to talented emerging artists who are producing exceptional work. Artworks do not need to be produced specifically for this exhibition; it is entirely optional for the artists to draw from their existing portfolio or create new work. The artwork must be:

  • Two dimensional, suitable for reproduction in print for the outdoor exhibition
  • In any two dimensional medium, including photography
  • Not created using generative AI
  • Created within the last two years
  • Original work
  • Submitted in a high res digital format (JPG or PNG at least 1Mb in size) titled ‘Surname-First Name-Title of Work-Medium’

When?

Submissions for the Birmingham Creates: The Open call are open now until midnight 5 May 2024. Any works submitted after this time will not be considered.

The Birmingham Creates: The Open will culminate with a physical outdoor group exhibition in Birmingham city centre in 2024.
