A Journey Towards Empowering Women’s Safety

24 July 2024

Hello, my name is Kelsey Dwyer and I am the Partnership & Events Manager at Colmore BID. Alongside my primary role, I have the privilege of co-coordinating the Women’s Safety Forum with our Special Projects Officer, Paul Street.

Joining the Colmore Women’s Safety Forum

Joining the Women’s Safety Forum was a natural decision for me. I have always been passionate about making meaningful changes to women’s safety, both in professional settings and personal lives. Co-coordinating this group allows me to be part of an empowering initiative where we discuss real-life challenges and seek practical solutions.

There are already many organisations delivering fantastic safety initiatives, but for me, the Forum is about learning, forming valuable partnerships, and effectively communicating safer practices to everyone.

What does your role on the Forum entail?

As a Forum member, my responsibilities are varied and fulfilling. I work closely with Paul Street to ensure that our projects are progressing as planned. This involves supporting and planning key events, as well as liaising with different stakeholders to launch crucial communication pieces.

What’s your favourite part of being a member?

What I enjoy most about being part of the Women’s Safety Forum is the opportunity to work with individuals who share the same passion for change. The work we do and the partnerships we form have a real impact on people’s lives. Knowing that our efforts can support and protect women at any point in their lives is incredibly rewarding.

Being part of the Women’s Safety Forum has been a truly enriching experience, and I look forward to continuing this important work to make our community safer and more inclusive for everyone.
