22 April 2025
St Basils invites adventurers to explore the stunning Peak District on Saturday 14th June 2025 – all in aid of tackling youth homelessness
Looking for a weekend escape that lifts the spirits and does good at the same time? St Basils Hike for Homeless 2025 is back on Saturday 14 June, and it’s shaping up to be the most scenic charity hike of the year.
Set in the heart of the Peak District, this unforgettable challenge invites people of all fitness levels to take in breathtaking views, raise vital funds for young people at risk of homelessness, and enjoy a truly uplifting experience in nature.
Starting from the picturesque market town of Bakewell, the hike passes through iconic countryside, with all routes taking in stunning views of Chatsworth House, peaceful walks along the River Derwent, and the chance to visit the charming village of Edensor, which will be hosting its annual summer fête.
Whether you’re a hiking pro or just want to stretch your legs with friends, family or work mates, there are three route options ranging from beginner to expert – making it a perfect fit for everyone.
But it’s not just about the walking – it’s a weekend packed with natural beauty and Insta-worthy moments. The area is full of hidden gems, from enchanting waterfalls and rolling hills to quaint villages and gorgeous stone cottages straight out of a storybook. If you’re looking to fill your feed with incredible landscapes and countryside charm, this is the hike for you.
And when the walking’s done, Bakewell and the surrounding area is known for its warm pubs, roaring fires and hearty food – perfect for a celebratory drink or a well-deserved Sunday roast the next day. Why not turn your challenge into a full weekend break?
With return coach travel from Birmingham available, it’s never been easier to escape the city and reconnect with nature – while supporting a truly vital cause.
Barrie Hodge, Head of Fundraising and Communications at St Basils said:
“The Peak District gives us the most breathtaking backdrop imaginable, and the people who take part each year are just incredible. There’s such a brilliant community feel on the day – friends, families and colleagues all coming together with one shared goal: to help change the lives of vulnerable young people.
With the cost-of-living crisis putting more and more young people at risk of losing their homes, the money raised through this hike couldn’t be more important. Every step you take helps us provide the support, stability and hope that so many young people desperately need right now.
Plus, it’s just a cracking day out in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. You’ll come away with amazing memories, stunning photos, and the feel-good factor of doing something truly worthwhile.”
