100 Days of Creativity: City Curator Highlights

City Curator Highlights: Week 12

It’s fair to say that Birmingham’s creative scene is incredibly rich and diverse. Over the last 11 weeks you’ve had the opportunity to enjoy world-class theatre, to experience the work of globally renowned artists, to discover new talent, to foster your own creative abilities with hands-on workshops and to kick back and have some fun. The week ahead, week 12,  is no different, let’s get into my highlights:

If you haven’t been to any outdoor theatre at the Botanical Gardens yet, now is your chance.

The Duke’s Theatre Company presents Shakespearean comedy ‘As You Like It’.  Robert Shaw Cameron has directed this brand-new production which is touring fifty of the UK’s most magical venues. Sure you can catch it at The Minack but what could be better than a sunny evening right here in the city? Make a night of it and enjoy a drink & the line-up of street food traders too.

Shortcourses City Curator Highlights: Week Twelve

Creative Short Courses

Midlands Art Centre

Taking place throughout the 100 Days of Creativity

Every year the MAC Short Courses programme presents a fantastic opportunity to learn something new. You can try everything from ceramics to jewellery making. The only problem is it sells out SUPER quickly but if you head over to their website right now there are actually one or two courses (within the 100 days and beyond) with spaces left on them.

Which creative skill will you learn next?

Take a look.

The G&G Stitch Academy Kids Summer Holiday Workshops 2024

Guthrie & Ghani, 169 Alcester Road

On for the rest of 100 Days Of Creativity

It’s not just adults that can learn new skills during the 100 days of Creativity! In these summer holiday sewing sessions, children (aged 7 and above) can learn how to use a range of materials and sewing tools, including the sewing machine.

They will then put their new skills into practice as they make their very own project to take home. Projects include cuddly owl cushions, fabulous felt pin badges and patchwork cushion covers.
