Birmingham Mind: Mental Health Support Tailored to You

Birmingham Mind is here to help individuals across Birmingham navigate their mental health journey with care and understanding. Offering a range of person-centred services, they are committed to helping people lead meaningful lives and reach their full potential.

Their support includes the Central Birmingham Wellbeing Hub, situated in the Bullring, which hosts wellbeing sessions tailored to specific audiences, and additional hubs across Greater Birmingham offering drop-in sessions. Please check out their Wellbeing Hub page for more information. The Community Development Service actively engages with local communities to provide accessible mental health support.

For immediate assistance, Birmingham Mind’s helpline is available every day from 9 am to 11 pm at 0121 262 3555 (Freephone 0800 915 9292). They also provide long-term care through two residential homes, offering a safe and supportive environment.

The Samaritans: Always Here to Listen

For over 60 years, the Birmingham branch of The Samaritans has been a lifeline for those in need of someone to talk to. Today, their dedicated team continues to provide compassionate, non-judgmental support from their branch on Bow Street, just behind the O2 Academy.

The Samaritans offer a range of services to support mental health and wellbeing, including their 24/7 free helpline, accessible by calling 116 123, and email support via jo@samaritans.org. They also engage in community outreach through schools and prisons, working to reach those who need them most.

No matter what you’re facing, The Samaritans are here to listen, day or night. If you’re struggling, don’t hesitate to reach out—they’re always ready to help.

Birmingham Healthy Minds: Accessible Support for Depression and Anxiety

Birmingham Healthy Minds is an NHS primary care service offering psychological therapies to support individuals experiencing symptoms of low mood, depression, or anxiety. Designed to help you better understand and manage these symptoms, the service is available to anyone aged 16 or over who is registered with a Birmingham GP.

Accessing the service is straightforward—you can self-refer by completing a referral form, calling 0121 301 2525, or texting ‘BHM’ to 60777. Deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals can contact the service via text relay on 81001, text the word ‘DEAF’ to 60777, or email their details to bsmhft.bhm@nhs.net. Referrals can also be made through your GP.

Please note that those already under the care of a mental health team should speak to their team before self-referring. Birmingham Healthy Minds is committed to providing accessible, tailored support to help you regain control and improve your wellbeing.
