Professional services group Gateley has announced Birmingham Children’s Hospital as the chosen charity partner for its Birmingham headquarters, following an internal nomination and voting process.
The hospital, situated in the heart of the city, was the clear choice of the 500-strong workforce at Gateley’s Birmingham headquarters. The team will now undertake a variety of initiatives and challenges, with funds raised going towards Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity’s appeal to raise £3m to transform the entrance of the hospital.
It Starts Here was launched last year following feedback from patients and parents and aims to overhaul the existing main entrance from a cramped and unwelcoming space to an area which is flooded with natural light, promotes relaxation, and reduces the stress and anxiety many children face when they first arrive at hospital.
Rebecca Sherwin, real estate partner and Birmingham office head, said: “Each year we ask our colleagues to nominate local causes to support as part of our responsible business ethos and, this year, Birmingham Children’s Hospital was the clear pick of our team.
“It was incredibly inspiring to pay a visit to the hospital recently and hear about plans to transform the frontage and create an environment more befitting of the world-class care that patients receive on a daily basis when they are there. For many patients and their parents, the hospital becomes something of a second home, so it is imperative that their stays there can be as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Whilst we have supported the hospital in a variety of ways in previous years, we look forward to having them as our main charitable focus and playing our part in raising the crucial funds to make this dream a reality.”
Katie Harris, corporate partnerships manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, added: “We’re incredibly excited and grateful to have been chosen as Gateley Birmingham’s charity partner. We care for around 100,000 sick children from across the city, region and UK every year and charity funds are vital in ensuring we can offer those patients and families the best possible experience while with us. We can’t wait to see what the partnership brings!”
Last year, Gateley’s Birmingham office, which has served as the headquarters for the Group for more than 200 years, supported a variety of different charities, but took the decision this year to concentrate its efforts into such a worthy cause.
