ARG Discretionary Restart Fund

Birmingham City Council has secured further Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) funding from government to continue to support businesses affected by the Covid 19 pandemic.

Two new grant schemes are available which are designed to aid business recovery.  We strongly recommend that before applying, businesses based in the Birmingham City Council area, should check the eligibility criteria for each scheme to decide which is the most appropriate.  Only one grant per business can be awarded and businesses can only access one scheme.

The schemes are summarised as follows:

ARG Discretionary Restart Fund

For those businesses which did not qualify for a Restart Grant, do not have an RV for their property, or are not the rate payer, then a one off grant payment of £5,000 is available to sector specific companies in the non-essential retail, hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym sectors.

ARG Business Recovery Scheme

This scheme is to provide Small and medium-sized enterprises (SME)* with grant funding of between £5,000 – £50,000 towards projects which will drive business recovery and safeguard existing jobs (capped to a maximum of 75% of overall eligible project costs).

Established SMEs within any sector that have been actively trading for a minimum of the last 3 months and are seeking to implement a recovery plan, can apply.
