Distinctly Birmingham Launch

Distinctly Birmingham is a project that has been led by Fierce and funded by the Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP exploring ways to bring footfall back to the city through engaging arts and cultural experiences. Artists have explored the city and developed ideas aimed at reanimating and reinvigorating public space, bringing a sense of fun and excitement to the city as it comes out of the Covid pandemic.

Four artists (Amy Sharrocks, Jordan McKenzie, Sheila Ghelani and Sylvia Rimat) will be presenting ideas they have developed for public-realm work in Birmingham to a group of influential city businesses and stakeholders.

Fierce has a long history of being class-leaders in the world of public realm art. We are commissioners of Play me I’m Yours – the project responsible for all those pianos in public spaces, leaving a permanent legacy around the world. Fierce also presented the ‘Birdman of Birmingham” placing artist Benjamin Verdonck in a giant nest on the Rotunda for a week, gaining international news coverage.

This is your chance to have a say in the cultural offering on your doorstep, influencing a project from its inception to achieve the best outcomes for local business as well as artists and audiences in Birmingham.

This is an open meeting to talk about how arts and culture can play a part in reimagining the high street, without the expectation that the presented work will be ‘bought up’ by anyone attending. We would love for you to come and be a part of that conversation.
