Celebrate the heritage of the Business District with Colmore History Week
16 July 2020
The street that we now know as Colmore Row has roots dating back to before the 18th century, when it was named New Hall Lane and connected roads from the City Centre to Dudley and West Bromwich. The business District has come on a long way since its Georgian beginnings and between 20-24 July we will explore some of the hidden histories found in the area.
Join us for Colmore History Week where we will be publishing videos and virtual tours that explore some of the everyday sights within the District that you probably walk past every day, but may never have noticed. From statues of the first Bishop of Birmingham, to gothic angel fountains embedded within the city walls, we unpick their histories and the early beginnings of the District.
We’ve also created our first interactive Colmore History Magazine, featuring 29 pages of heritage fun and facts from around the area.
For more info about Colmore History Week, join us from 20-24 July on our Facebook and Twitter pages where we will be publishing new content everyday.
