Christmas in Cathedral Square – week one

18 October 2022

Christmas in Cathedral Square returns for its second year.  Like last year, we will be seeing a range of traders across the five weeks.   Here’s our look at our first week of trading.

The market kicks off with our light switch on, taking place in the Cathedral Grounds on 16 November.  What better inspiration to make you consider how best to light your house and with Crackling Candles, you can find handmade scented candles to bring Christmas into your home.

Once the lights are sorted, what about the decorations themselves?  We’re joined again by YA Creates, the JQ based design business specialising in laser cut homeware,  and HQ Handmade are also on hand (pun intended) for any festive themed gifts and accessories.

If you’re looking for more traditional artwork, we’re joined by well known local artist, Funny Brummy Pictures who captures the funnier side of Birmingham life.   If you (or someone you’re buying for!) is more inspired by nature, market new-comers Glass Art Designs, will be selling fused glass art inspired by the Worcestershire country side.

Also joining us for the first time is House of Holis, they sell a range of eclectic home and beauty products.  We all want to look and feel great over the festive period, so why not also treat yourself to luxury organic skincare from Natroma

When it comes to gifts for you or a loved one, we’re joined by Quarter Masters, a local collective of artists and makers; there’ll be something for everyone, all crafted in the JQ.

If you, or someone you’re buying for is a bit of a foodie, Cameler Spice Co. will be joining us for the first time this year.  If you have a slightly sweeter tooth, Miss Macaroon’s classic sweet treats will be available to take home (if they last that long!).  Looking for something a little stronger?  West Midlands Distillery will be selling a range of their spirit based products to take home.

If you get peckish, city centre favourite Hookways will be offering their classic Middle Eastern menu; think kebabs, wraps and, of course, halloumi fries.  You can also enjoy entertainment throughout the week with a pint of beer from local brewers Purity, and the team from Purecraft Bar and Kitchen
