New professionals invited to expand skills and network with ‘Welcome to Birmingham’

06 October 2022

Colmore BID is inviting new professionals to develop skills, understand the benefits of networking and meet up with like-minded individuals at its brand-new ‘Welcome to Birmingham’ event.

Taking place between Monday 31 October and Friday 4 November, Colmore BID is hosting the ‘Welcome to Birmingham’ week, a series of fun and insightful events for professionals who work in the thriving Colmore Business District.

Over the last two years during the Covid-19 pandemic, lots of new professionals have joined organisations in the District and as a result, have spent the majority of their time working from home and not experienced a traditional onboarding process.

After speaking with a number of partners and businesses, Colmore BID has launched the ‘Welcome to Birmingham’ initiative to help those new professionals to understand the benefits of working in the District, build their new network, and learn a variety of skills.

Partnering with local businesses in the District, Colmore BID is hosting 15 events across the week that will support new and young professionals to develop workplace skills, whilst benefitting from networking with like-minded individuals.

Throughout the week, professionals will have the opportunity to attend personal development sessions, including ‘Build your Brand’, ‘Meet the Directors’ and ‘Becoming Tomorrow’s Leader’.

Colmore BID is also hosting a range of social networking activities such as a group run, a cook-along session and a quiz night

The event series is the ideal opportunity for individuals to experience what working in the Colmore Business District has to offer and gain insight into how they can utilise these opportunities to thrive in their future careers.

Nicola Fleet-Milne, Chair of Colmore BID said:

“Following the Covid-19 pandemic, Birmingham and the Colmore Business District has seen great growth in talented professionals working in the city centre. Following discussions with our partners and local businesses, we are launching the ‘Welcome to Birmingham’ series to provide the perfect opportunity to greet new professionals to our ever-flourishing city and show them what it means to be a part of Colmore BID.

“Each event will provide individuals with something different and fun to engage with, supporting professional skills development from industry experts, as well as getting to know their peers and developing their social networking prospects.”
