Richborough launches new scheme to develop junior talent for the industry
03 October 2024
National land promote Richborough in Colmore Business District has launched the ‘Richborough Pathway’, a new scheme to develop its new junior starters in the land and planning industry.
With the industry expected to grow rapidly over the coming months, following the change in government and possible changes to planning legislation, Richborough is keen to help foster new talent, building broad skills and knowledge across all operational departments.
The leading land promoter has developed the interactive ‘Richborough Pathway’ programme in response, allowing room for support, discussion and software training along the way. Each new Assistant Land & Planning Manager (ALPM) will spend six months with different sections of the business covering acquisitions, technical and disposals, giving them a wide view and experience of the varying functions, from networking and land studies to masterplanning and tackling constraints.
Karuna Bhatia, People and HR Business Partner for Richborough said: “For the Richbrough Pathway, each new ALPM will spend six months in each department and be assigned a specific region so they’ll have a line manager with them the whole time as they rotate through the different functions of the process. The scheme will allow us to build our fresh talent from the grass roots, which will then be part of the Richborough DNA.”
Ollie Wilkins is the first to undertake the scheme having recently joined Richborough’s South-East region. Ollie has previously undertaken internships at Lone Star Group, Spitfire Homes and Savills and is eager to learn from Richborough as a leading national land promoter in both the residential and logistics markets.
Rhys Tupper, Senior Land and Planning Manager and Ollie’s line manager added: “With Richborough’s continued growth we’re keen to develop our people to help them find the right area for them and learn best practice on the way. Many of the Richborough team started out in the industry on a similar scheme and it’s so important to offer mentorship to the next generation. We’re thrilled to have Ollie join the team and we’ve already started going through the process with him.”
Established in 2003 Richborough has grown significantly since the 2022 investment from Terra Firma Principal Capital Group, supported by Partners Group and the Hands Family Office. The group now has offices in London, Birmingham and Bristol and now employs almost 50 people.
