Celebrating Birmingham’s Volunteers: Nominations Open for the King’s Award for Voluntary Service

Volunteer groups across Birmingham are being encouraged to put themselves forward for the King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) — the highest honour a local volunteer group can receive in the UK. Equivalent to an MBE and awarded for life, the KAVS recognises exceptional contributions made by volunteer-led organisations to their communities.
Nominations for the 2025 awards are now open and will close on 1 December.
Birmingham is home to a vibrant and diverse voluntary sector, with countless groups making a real difference in the lives of residents every day. This year, local leaders are calling for as many nominations as possible to ensure the city’s unsung heroes get the recognition they deserve.
