New photography book captures the city from above

Birmingham: A Drone’s Eye View is a stunning new book by local photographer and author Jonathan Berg, offering a fresh perspective on the city through the lens of a drone camera. This beautifully produced hardback coffee table style book starts in the city centre before flying out across Birmingham’s suburbs to reveal the city as never seen before.
From dramatic views of city squares, key buildings, and public art to the sometimes surprising stories of the inner city and the beauty of the suburbs. Each photograph shows Birmingham in a new light. Even the city’s water recycling tells a tale, with the water we drink from Wales soon to be sent south by canal to be reused by Londoners!
Every image in the book was taken using a mini drone camera. Jonathan explains:
“Since the 1990s I have often been frustrated by not being able to get a high-level view. I even chartered planes from Birmingham Airport to try and get the shots I wanted for my books. The drone has changed all that.”
Originally planned as a two-year project, the superb weather this summer allowed Jonathan to complete the book in time for this Christmas. At the end of the book there is a section explaining how the photos were taken and the drone flying techniques that were used.
Birmingham: A Drone’s Eye View is 60-pages in hardback and featuring 150 photographs. It is officially published on 22 November, and is available now from www.positivelybirmingham.co.uk.
