Charity Partner Unveiled

MK2 has named Resources for Autism as its first ever charity partner. 

The property consultancy is planning a year-long campaign to help raise funds for this special organisation, which supports children and adults diagnosed with autism, as well as providing support and advice for those who love and care for them. Services provided by the London and Birmingham-based charity include weekly youth clubs, holiday schemes, parent support groups, music therapy and volunteer befriending. 

The charity was chosen from a shortlist of three and was championed by Paul Rixon, who heads the firm’s lease consultancy and asset management team. Paul’s youngest son, Joe, was diagnosed with autism, aged five. Now 23, Joe has benefited from Resources for Autism’s services for more than 14 years. 

Paul said: “Resources for Autism has been a great support for Joe and our family. Public support for children with autism often ends around the age of 16. Resources for Autism fills the void, ensuring young adults can continue to access services. The charity’s help has been truly transformative for Joe and I’m thrilled that my colleagues have agreed to raise funds for the organisation and its wonderful team in Birmingham.”

As well as raising money for Resources for Autism, MK2 will provide pro bono property advice as the organisation plans to move from its current Birmingham HQ at Pershore Road. 

Phil Cook, the new chief executive at Resources for Autism, said: “I’m really happy that RfA has such an enthusiastic partner in MK2 and we are excited about what we can do together over this year. As I begin my time as CEO it makes me very optimistic for the future to see the connection that people can build with this organisation. Most of all, it will have huge benefits for autistic people in the West Midlands, not only in fundraising to keep vital services and support going, but also in building awareness and opportunity.
