Martyn’s Law Workshop

04 June 2025
10:00 - 14:00
2 The Priory Queensway

On 3 April 2025, the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 – formerly known as Martyn’s Law, became enacted with the intention of improving the UK’s preparedness for terrorist attacks. The legislation requires, for the first time, qualifying buildings & events to take steps to reduce the harm from terrorism.

Colmore BID is working in partnership with CT Protect Ltd to facilitate an interactive awareness workshop for the benefit of BID members. Our workshop will be facilitated by Danielle Grant, former Deputy UK Counter Terrorism National Co-Ordinator & Head of Learning & Development Counter Terrorism – Protect, who has extensive knowledge of Martyn’s Law and its impact.

This session will cover the general framework of the legislation, including:

  • Standard & Enhanced Tier definitions for venues and events in scope
  • What are the qualifying activities?
  • Responsibilities of applicable businesses and event organisers
  • The role of the SIA; the regulatory body with responsibility for enforcement sanctions

There will be opportunities for attendees to ask questions or seek clarification.

Please note, this legislation is in its primacy, and it’s anticipated that over the next 2 years the Home Office will provide further guidance to allow businesses to become fully conversant and compliant with legislative requirements.

Attendance at this free-to-attend event is strictly for Colmore BID members and only via this Eventbrite registration process. Attendees are required to register using their work email address only – registrations with personal email addresses will be cancelled.

The venue is Multistory-Birmingham, 2 The Priory Queensway, Birmingham, B4 6BS.

We are hopeful of providing attendees with a light lunch. To ensure we cater for everyone’s needs, please answer the dietary & food allergy questions when you order your ticket.

If you have any event queries please direct them to Paul Street, Project Manager Safe & Sound via email paul.street@colmorebid.co.uk.
