Place Marketing Working Group Update
Commonwealth Games
Five million people were welcomed to the city during the Games.
We had nine venues from across the District trading on the Victoria Square Festival site. Colmore and Central BID joint funded activity on the Victoria Square site from 7-9 pm every evening, which was a huge success – the square was buzzing every evening.
Christmas in Birmingham
Working with Central BID, a Christmas map will be produced highlighting all the activities across the city centre during the festive period.
Christmas in Cathedral Square will open on Wednesday 16 November and will close on Sunday 18 December. The switch on for the Christmas lights and the opening of the market will be on Wednesday 16 November. This event will be attended by some of the cast of the Birmingham Hippodrome Pantomime, Glyn Purnell and Ian Ward, Leader of BCC.
Christmas is approaching and along with this the cost of living crisis is already causing increased pressure for families within this community.
We have teamed up with Dishoom to create a Christmas experience for some of the families, that are supported by by Ladywood Community Trust, to enjoy. This will include a breakfast at Dishoom with a story time from Santa, a visit to Christmas in Cathedral Square and Ice Skate Birmingham. We are after donations to help support the families visiting. Please contact Kelsey Dwyer to make donations.
CONSTRUCT – Photography Exhibition

The exhibition, located in Snow Hill Station Square is image led showing photographs of clients at SIFA. As well as the launch which was held on 21 September, there are a number of fringe events took place.
