Special Projects Officer

Paul joined Colmore BID in January 2019 as a Special Projects Officer for the BID’s Safe and Sound Working Group.  

Safe and Sound focuses on delivering a safe and secure Colmore Business District for everyone who works, visits or passes through. The Working Group provides a visible Security Team patrol providing business and public reassurance, as well as specific projects aimed at tackling public safety issues such as national security, crime and anti-social behaviour. The team work with a host of partners to support some of the most vulnerable members of our communities who are homeless, street sleeping and begging. 

Paul recently completed a 12 month contract delivering award-winning work for Soho Road BID after a varied and highly decorated 30 year career with West Midlands Police. He has extensive specialist experience in regional Counter Terrorism Policing as well as Local Policing in challenging areas such as Birmingham City Centre and Handsworth. Within his last 6 years of service Paul joined the Birmingham Partnership Team and worked alongside the Birmingham Community Safety Partnership as their strategic lead project officer for thematic priorities such as Urban Street Gangs, Serious Youth Violence, Violence Vulnerability and Early Help, and Crime ASB and Community Justice. Paul was the author of Birmingham’s first ever Business Related Crime partnership strategy. 

Paul is delighted to be bringing his knowledge and skills to Colmore Business District and is particularly looking forward to working with businesses and partners associated with the rapidly expanding entertainment and hospitality sector.
