DLA Piper Birmingham announces two Partner promotions

DLA Piper is proud to announce two partner promotions within the Birmingham office as part of the firm’s annual promotion round, effective 1 May 2022: Simon Wright and George Mortimer.
Simon has been with the firm since 2010, having originally joined as a trainee. He is part of Birmingham’s Corporate team, with extensive cross-border M&A experience acting for corporate and institutional vendors, and purchasers across Europe and the US. Simon also has experience advising on private equity transactions, including management buyouts, secondary buyouts, exits and debt/equity reorganisations/restructurings/refinancing’s.
George has been at DLA Piper since 2007, working in the Litigation & Regulatory team. George is a key player in DLA Piper’s insurance sector; advising insurers, Lloyd’s market participants, insurance intermediaries and corporates on insurance regulation and commercial insurance issues, regularly advising clients on multijurisdictional and cross border matters. George has also been at the heart of DLA Piper’s Brexit team for insurance sector clients, providing thought leadership, and advising insurance sector clients on Brexit issues, including contingency planning for “no deal”, Brexit reorganisations and restructurings, and post-Brexit temporary permission and run-off regimes.
Globally, DLA Piper has promoted 74 lawyers to its partnership across many of the firm’s practice areas, in 38 different offices throughout 21 countries.
