Dishoom Marks Ramadan with Iftar Special
14 March 2025
In the heart of the Colmore Business District, Dishoom invites all to gather for Iftar – the evening meal to break fast during the holy month of Ramadan. With warmth and reverence, they serve a special dish: Nalli Nihari, a rich and deeply spiced lamb stew, slow-cooked for hours until meltingly tender. Fragrant with ginger, garam masala and black cardamom, it is best enjoyed with a tandoor-fresh naan or sheermal, to soak up every last drop.

As the sun sets, guests are welcome to break their fast with dates and cooling sips of Rose Sherbet, followed by a comforting feast of Bombay’s finest dishes.
This special dish is available in the café from sunset onwards throughout Ramadan or via Deliveroo, to be enjoyed at home with loved ones.
The Story of Ramadan
Reflection, generosity and shared meals
❝ The ninth month of the Islamic calendar, Ramadan marks the time when the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. It is a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection, observed by millions across the world. ❞
✹ Fasting from dawn to dusk – each day begins with Suhoor (a pre-dawn meal) before the fast begins. Water and food are set aside, and focus is turned to prayer and acts of kindness.
✹ Breaking fast at Iftar – as the call to Maghrib prayer rings out at sunset, families and friends gather to share dates, fruits, and traditional dishes, celebrating another day of devotion and gratitude.
A time for togetherness, charity, and renewal.
