Message from our Chair: Changes to the Security Service
24 March 2020
Good Morning,
I am sure that you will have seen the advice from Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister, regarding the enhanced level of social distancing now required. The advice is clear; people are not to go outside unless they are:
- Shopping for essentials
- Engaging in one form of exercise per day
- Going out due to a medical need
- Travelling to and from work, where that work cannot be done from home.
The Government also issued an instruction that all shops selling non-essential items must shut, as well as library, outdoor gyms, and places of worship. All social gatherings have also been cancelled.
In light of this, we have taken the difficult decision to withdraw our Security Service. At this time, it is clear that the Government believes it is vital for there to be fewer people out on the street. We believe that the task of keeping the District secure now falls to our partners, West Midlands Police, who have worked with us so well over the last 11 years, and we will continue to liaise with other BIDs in the city centre.
Colmore BID remains available to support our businesses, as well as our public sector parters. Please contact the team in the usual way, or email info@colmorebid.co.uk
