Statement: New lockdown restrictions announced

03 November 2020

The news of a second lockdown has hit businesses hard, prompting further feelings of uncertainty around what the future holds. While we may not be clear at present on what additional support the government will be providing to help people see through these challenging times, our work in the District will continue – of that we are certain.

Many businesses, particularly within the leisure and hospitality industry will close their doors on Wednesday evening for the next four weeks. While footfall may diminish in the District, our security team will continue to patrol the area, working alongside West Midlands Police to ensure your properties remain safe, even when you’re not here.

Our work with Birmingham City Council, Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and the other city centre BIDs is now more important than ever as we look to support our levy payers by any means possible

Over the coming weeks, we will continue to update our Business Support Hub not only with schemes from the government but from other reputable sources too.

Much like the past seven months, our events programme will continue, albeit online. The initial lockdown had a significant impact on people’s mental health, so it’s important that we keep active by any means possible. If you feel like you are struggling, please do visit our Mental Wellbeing page on the website for details on who to talk to.

We know that this is not an ideal situation for anyone and will affect some more than others. One thing we at the BID are certain of though is that the Colmore Business District community as a whole will come through this, and we, as always, are here to help if you need us.

If you have any concerns or ideas of how the BID can further support the District, please contact us on info@colmorebid.co.uk.

Stay safe
