Birmingham Wine Weekend makes grand return to city for 2022

Back for the first time in two years, Birmingham Wine Weekend (BWW) is gearing up to take over the city again this April. In a bid to make up for lost time, the festival is returning with more venues, days, and – most importantly – wines than ever before; and even features an app, to make this real-life event doubly immersive.

BWW will be running for a full week in 2022 from 4 to 10 April, meaning festival-goers are set to enjoy extended access to exclusive access to dinners, events and masterclasses. This year, 30 hand-picked venues have already joined the line-up – the most in the festival’s history – giving both wine novices and connoisseurs the opportunity to discover the city one sip at a time, via Birmingham’s best venues.

In another festival first, E-tickets will grant access to the brand-new BWW App, which will feature participants’ wine passes: a personalised digital wine passport for the week. The BWW App will not only provide the key to unlocking the festival; it also features tasting notes for the wines available (if you’d like to know them ahead of time!); a journal for festival-goers to rate and comment on the wines they’ve tried; and a handy digital map of the venues taking part, making it easier than ever to plan and enjoy a grape adventure.

Commenting on the return of BWW, Alex Nicholson-Evans, the founder of the festival’s parent company Living For The Weekend, said:

Festival-goers can purchase their £10 e-ticket from today, giving them access to two options at each venue: either a specially selected wines for £5 per glass; or a wine and canape pairing for £7. What’s more, a selection of venues will offer premium wine flights, taking the journey to new heights. Added to this, the Birmingham Wine Weekend experience will include a curated line-up of events, and dining options exclusively for festival-goers.

BWW begins on Monday 4 April and will run through until the last venues close on Sunday 10 April. Wine passes will be valid for the entire week, enabling attendees to map out their own experience by dipping in and out of the festival or taking advantage of the entire seven days.
