Mind and body to be put through their paces as BID Community Games return
03 May 2022
Colmore BID is shaking up its Community Games this year with a range of new activities that not only test physical abilities but also mental aptitude as well.
Taking place on Friday 17 June in the grounds of Birmingham Cathedral, Colmore BID’s Community Games will put participants through their paces in a style reminiscent of popular 90s game shows. Contestants will battle it out across 16 fun-filled games, collecting crystals along the way before moving onto the final challenge – the Crystal Dome.
The challenges at this year’s event include; The Aztec Tower, Snake Pit, Hazard Material, Ball Drop, Spaced Out, Pulley Pipe and River Crossing.
Colmore BID is looking for businesses to sign up to this year’s games, which have been officially endorsed by Birmingham 2022’s United Programme. Teams must be made up of at least four individuals and no sporting experience is required. Entry into the games is £40 per team, with all money raised going to charity.
Launched in 2012 to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, The Community Games has seen over 50 businesses compete over the years, raising nearly £5,500 for various charitable causes.
Michele Wilby, CEO of Colmore BID, said: “Colmore Business District has always had a great sense of community, but now and again, there’s no harm in a little competition between friends. After our own security team took home the title of Champions last year, we’ve decided to mix up the challenges a bit. The games have always been about working together with your colleagues, but this will be even more crucial this year if teams want to make it through to the Crystal Dome and de-throne the reigning champions.”
