Our commitment to wellbeing in your office

Through spring and into summer, the Community Building working group has been busy with a selection of wellbeing, health and fitness events and programmes.

Our free weekly virtual yoga continues to prove popular and as such we have committed to a number of extra months with instructor, Katy Insley.

Prior to gyms re-opening we ran a 6 week ‘Colmore Fitness’ programme with the Personal Trainers at PureGym Snowhill located in the District.  People were able to access four fitness classes a week online and were sent a recording of the class to watch in their own time.

To mark the launch of Mental Health Awareness Week in May, Colmore BID partnered with Wellbeing in your Office to deliver four free events, promoting mental wellbeing, particularly in the working environment. We had three online events and trialled an in-person event too. The events during this period were popular and have given us a better understanding on people’s views on whether they want in person or online content.

Continuing to work with Wellbeing in Your Office, we have programmed monthly wellbeing events until the end of the year. We have an event on 27 June on Digital Wellbeing, in July it is Mindfulness for Calm and Resilience and August will be Chair Yoga. All of these sessions are free to attend.

At the start of 2021 we launched Network and Drink, a networking series hosted on Zoom. Each week we invited a guest speaker to take to the virtual stage and talk about a given topic. Once concluded, attendees were then split up into breakout rooms where they could network for the rest of the session.

As restrictions have eased we have decided now isn’t the time to continue with this online as people are slowly venturing outdoors to meet colleagues and friends. We are hoping to re-launch in person in the Autumn. If you or your company would be interested at talking at one of these events please email Katy Paddock.

After taking a break in 2020 we are back with Community Games this summer. The Games will be taking place on Friday 17 September and a team entry is £40, all of which is donated to the Birmingham Food Banks. Sports will include blindfolded egg and spoon race, dodgeball and tug of war to name a few. Details on how to sign up are here.
