Safer Colmore
We want everyone who works in or who visits Colmore Business District to feel safe and secure, day and night. We work towards this by providing a visible team presence within the District, partnering on projects and delivering services that help to create a thriving and welcoming environment for everyone.
As Colmore BID continues to promote the District as a premier UK destination for business, it is increasingly important to manage and monitor the on-street experience, so whether you are coming to work or visiting for the first time, the District makes a lasting, positive impression.
The most visible output of this group is the Community Operations Team. Consisting of five Community Officers, one Ambassador and a Street Cleaner, the team works with various partners to assist those in need, tackle antisocial behaviour, and act as our eyes and ears in terms of the maintenance and cleaning of the District.
Our close links with West Midlands Police and partner agencies have enabled us to provide a range of crime prevention and Counter-Terrorism advice in the past, and our revitalised Colmore Security Network is continuing to provide businesses with the information they need to stay resilient.
Our growing night-time economy is also a key area of focus. Our Colmore Licensing Network has been developed specifically to engage and support those businesses who trade into the evening. Whilst Colmore Business District is a relatively safe, low crime area of the city, we also run regular personal safety training sessions to help ensure that those who work in the District are as safe as they can be.
Safe and Sound is chaired by Kate Bailey from Squire Patton Boggs, the group is always keen to hear from people on how we can do more with our partners to keep the District safe. It is also currently recruiting for new members. If you would like to find out more, please contact John-Jo Von Johnson.
